A generous Malbec for steak night and slow-cooked suppers
Tapiz Malbec is a full-flavoured red with good volume and a long, satisfying finish. Look for inviting aromas of plum, cherry and strawberry, lifted by a sweet chocolate note from oak.
It is the sort of Malbec to open when grilled meats or a hearty supper are on the menu. The fruit-led character keeps the first glass approachable, while the fuller feel makes it a rewarding bottle to share around the table.
Made from 100% Malbec grown in Mendoza’s Uco Valley, it brings ripe-fruit aromas and an oak-derived chocolate note together in a direct, food-friendly Argentine red.

- The long finish lets the fruit and oak notes linger after each sip.
- It is a natural choice for grilled steak and other hearty meat dishes.
The story behind the wine
Tapiz is based in San Pablo in Mendoza’s Uco Valley, where the producer says it brings sustainable viticulture together with modern innovation. Its winemaker, Fabián Valenzuela, has worked with Tapiz for more than 20 years, giving the estate a long-standing link between its vineyards and cellar work.
This Malbec draws on two Uco Valley sites: Los Nogales Estate in Vistaflores, at 1,020 metres, and San Pablo Estate, at 1,350 metres. The high-altitude setting is more than a passing reference here: San Pablo became a recognised geographical indication in 2019, after a proposal made by Tapiz alongside Salentein and Familia Zuccardi. The GI spans parts of Tunuyán and Tupungato at 1,100–1,700 metres.
For the bottle in hand, those site names give useful context to a Mendoza Malbec made from Uco Valley fruit. Cold nights at the two vineyard sources help build colour, aroma and structure; after fermentation, eight months in previously used French and American oak barrels account for the wine’s sweet chocolate note.
