A generous, velvety red for roasts, grills and easy-going dinners

Rutini Collection Cabernet Malbec Blend x 750ml is the sort of dry red to reach for when you want depth without harshness. Expect ripe cherry and plum flavours, a smooth, rounded feel and a long, velvety finish, with vanilla, chocolate and warming spice adding a comforting savoury edge.

It comes into its own around a generously filled table: think grilled steak, roast lamb, roast chicken or a slow-cooked vegetable casserole. Full-bodied but polished, it has enough presence for a proper dinner and enough softness for an unhurried evening with friends.

Why you’ll love it

  • Plush and satisfying: ripe fruit and a velvety finish make for a generous, full-bodied glass.
  • Familiar, warming flavours: cherry and plum are layered with vanilla, chocolate and gentle spice.
  • Smooth rather than austere: the wine’s tannins give gentle grip while keeping the texture rounded.
  • Made for dinner: a natural partner for grilled meats, roasts, casseroles and other hearty plates.
  • Two grapes in balance: Cabernet Sauvignon brings shape and depth, while Malbec contributes generous fruit and softness.

The story behind the wine

Rutini’s story reaches back to 1885, when Felipe Rutini founded Bodega La Rural in Coquimbito, Maipú. The producer’s official history records a further defining step in 1924, when it began pioneering vineyard plantings in Mendoza’s Uco Valley—an area that has since become one of the province’s key wine regions.

This bottle belongs to Rutini Colección, the producer’s range of single-varietal and bi-varietal wines from the Uco Valley. Rutini names Gualtallary, El Cepillo and La Consulta among the valley areas behind the Collection, giving the range a clear connection to this part of Mendoza rather than a generic Argentine identity.

Rutini says its Uco Valley farms sit between 1,050 and 1,200 metres above sea level, and the Collection line is produced at its Tupungato winery. For the drinker, that long-standing commitment to the valley is the useful part of the story: this is a considered Cabernet–Malbec blend from a producer whose Uco Valley roots predate the region’s present-day renown.
