Argentinian Meat Sold by Kilo, Explained

Argentinian Meat Sold by Kilo, Explained

Why Casa Argentina Led the Way, and Why Few Follow…

At Casa Argentina, we don’t just sell meat, we tell a story with every cut. One that starts in the Pampas of Argentina and ends in your kitchen, full of flavour and authenticity.

But there’s one part of our story that’s often misunderstood:

Why we sell many of our meats by the exact kilo?

This approach might seem unfamiliar at first glance, especially in a world where pre-packed, fixed-weight trays dominate the online stores, and also the super markets.

So why did we choose to go against the grain? Let’s break it down.

The Origin of the Idea

When we launched our butchery offering back in 2015, we knew we had two choices:

One, Stick to standardised cuts and packaging, easier, yes, but less flexible and honest, and definitely more expensive for our customer.

Or, create a system that reflects the true nature of meat: varying in size, weight, and character.

We chose the second. Why?

Because when it comes to quality meat, no two cuts are identical. And charging by the kilo “is the fairest and most transparent way to serve our customers”. You only pay for exactly what you receive, not a rounded-up, overcharged version of it.

What Does "Sold by the Kilo" Really Mean?

So, let’s say you're browsing our website and spot an enticing Ribeye Steak. Instead of selecting “1 pack” and hoping for the best, you see an option like:

Ribeye Steak – Sold by the Kilo (£X.XX/kg)

You then choose the one you want, from the dropdown list available at the time. Each piece with different weights and different prices depending on weight.

Once the exact weight is confirmed, you add the item to the cart, we deliver or your Click & Collect.

No gimmicks. No tricks. Just honest Argentine meat, cut and weighed by professionals who know their craft.

Why Aren’t Others Doing the Same?

It’s simple: selling by the kilo is harder, it cost the company more, its time consuming and they only care about saving at any cost.

It takes time, it really does, our team, on a daily basis, has to weight every single piece of meat that is sold by weight, they have to calculate the sale price, they have to add the stocks one by one to the system, so it can be available to you.

It demands skill. It requires in-house butchers and real people behind the scenes, not just automated pickers and plastic trays.

Few honest and transparent companies want the complexity of real weights, real knives, and real cuts.

We embraced it because that’s what our customers deserves.

What You Gain as a Customer

Transparency

You see the price per kilo up front, and you only pay for the exact weight you receive.

Flexibility

Need 400g of entraña for a solo asado or 3kg of vacío for a party? We’ve got you.

Authenticity

This is how meat is bought across Argentina, tailored to each customer, each time.

A Cut Above the Rest

At Casa Argentina, we didn’t follow a trend, we started one.

Our “sold by kilo” model isn't just about pricing; it’s about respecting the meat, the craft, and your trust.

We believe that good food starts with honesty, and when it comes to meat, there’s no better way to show that than cutting to order, weighing with precision, and delivering what we promise.

We hope this gives you a clearer picture of how and why we do things differently, and why that difference matters.
