To ensure your gourd lasts for years and delivers the best flavour:

1. Rinse the gourd with warm water before first use.

2. Fill halfway with used yerba mate or a small amount of dry mate.

3. Add warm water (not boiling) and let it sit for 24 hours to allow the gourd to absorb moisture and release any bitterness.

4. Empty and rinse gently with warm water.

5. Repeat at least twice for the best results.

6. After each use, rinse with warm water only, allow it to dry completely upside-down, and never use soap.
