A generous, layered Malbec for a dinner worth lingering over

Bodegas Bianchi Particular Malbec is a full-bodied, dry red that feels generous and polished in the glass. Ripe plum and blackberry lead the way, followed by warming spice, vanilla, dark chocolate and a gentle smoky note. It has a smooth, silky texture with enough gentle grip to keep the flavours focused, and a long, elegant finish.

Open it when the food is slow-cooked and the table is staying set: roast beef, lamb, game or a rich stew are especially good partners. The wine’s depth also works beautifully with a hearty pasta bake or a wedge of mature hard cheese.

Why you’ll love it

  • Rich without feeling clumsy: ripe dark fruit is carried by a silky texture and a poised, lingering finish.
  • Comforting, savoury flavours: plum and blackberry meet warm spice, vanilla, dark chocolate and a subtle smoky edge.
  • Made for proper dinners: its structure stands up to roast meats, slow-cooked dishes and mature cheeses.
  • A bottle to take your time over: the generous flavour and gentle grip make each glass rewarding alongside food.
  • A Malbec with a real San Rafael story: it comes from Finca Asti in Las Paredes, part of Bodegas Bianchi’s long-standing home in Mendoza.

The story behind the wine

Bodegas Bianchi began in San Rafael in 1928, when Italian-born Valentín Bianchi founded a small winery called El Chiche. Four generations later, the family remains closely associated with its San Rafael roots. That continuity matters here: this is not a generic Mendoza Malbec, but a wine tied to the place where the Bianchi story began.

The Particular name has its own family connection. Enzo Bianchi first shared a wine from the family’s private cellar with customers in 1976, giving rise to the Particular label. It is a fitting background for a bottle intended for occasions when you want more depth and detail at the table.

For this Malbec, the fruit comes from Finca Asti in Las Paredes, San Rafael. The 30-year-old vines grow at over 750 metres in shallow, rocky soils with slightly calcareous stones. The grapes are hand-harvested and hand-sorted, then the wine spends 12 months in French oak and a further 12 months ageing in bottle before release. That patient handling helps explain its rounded feel, savoury complexity and notes of vanilla and gentle smoke.
