A velvety Malbec with ripe plum and warming spice for asados, Sunday roasts and relaxed dinners

Rutini Trumpeter Malbec is a generous red, with ripe plum at its heart and warming notes of cinnamon, cardamom and black pepper following close behind. It feels full-flavoured and smooth rather than heavy, finishing with lingering, velvety fruit.

Beneath that soft texture is a gentle, savoury grip that keeps the wine satisfying alongside food. Open it for an Argentine-style asado, roast lamb or a leisurely steak supper when you want a warming, approachable red with enough presence for the table.

It is equally at home with beef empanadas or well-seasoned roasted vegetables, where its ripe fruit and savoury spice sit comfortably beside charred, roasted and richly flavoured dishes.

Why you’ll love it

  • Generous plum fruit is brightened by warming cinnamon, cardamom and black-pepper spice.
  • Full-flavoured and velvety, it has a gentle, satisfying grip before a smooth, fruit-led finish.
  • It is made for the table: pour it with grilled beef, roast lamb or an Argentine-style asado.
  • The ripe, savoury character also makes it a useful choice for beef empanadas and well-seasoned roasted vegetables.
  • Its rounded feel and quietly warming finish keep the ripe fruit firmly in the spotlight.

The story behind the wine

Rutini Wines traces its story to 1885, when Felipe Rutini founded Bodega La Rural in Coquimbito, Maipú. That history matters here because the producer’s connection with Mendoza did not stop at its original winery: Rutini says it became the first winery to plant vineyards in the Uco Valley in 1924.

That early move helped establish Rutini’s long relationship with a valley that is now one of Mendoza’s important wine-growing areas. For a shopper, it gives this uncomplicated, food-friendly Malbec a clear sense of place: it comes from a producer with deep roots in the region rather than a wine carrying a regional name alone.

Trumpeter is among the lines produced at Rutini’s Tupungato plant in the Uco Valley, whose construction began in 2008. Mariano Di Paola has led Rutini’s winemaking department since 1994, linking this everyday dinner-table red to an established Mendoza wine team.
