The story behind the wine

Serie A stands for “Argentina Series”. Zuccardi created the range to explore representative grape varieties from regions that suit them, using selected vineyards along the Andes. For this Malbec, the focus is Valle de Uco in Mendoza: a clear regional expression rather than a wine presented as coming from one named vineyard.

The family story began in 1963, when engineer Alberto “Tito” Zuccardi planted the first family vineyard in Mendoza to demonstrate an irrigation system he had invented. What began with water and the challenge of farming in Mendoza developed into a family wine business, with his son José Alberto taking responsibility for it in 1985.

A third generation carried that curiosity into the Uco Valley. José Alberto’s son, Sebastián, began a project there in 1999 and later led the family’s development in the region; Zuccardi planted its first Uco Valley estate vineyard in 2007. Today, the producer describes Zuccardi Valle de Uco as three generations of the family working to make wines that express where they come from. That long-term interest in place is the useful backdrop to this friendly, food-ready Malbec.
